Our Special Pantry Partners

We welcome your ideas!

Our supporters have been wonderful with their outpouring of funds and food, especially during the current Covid-19 crisis.

We are grateful to local businesses, including The Art Closet Gallery and Desires By Mikolay in Chappaqua, and the Beehive Designer Collective in Mt. Kisco, that have created special fundraisers.

If you, your organization, or your business have ideas for 3rd-party fundraisers, please contact our Development Chair: outreach@mountkiscofoodpantry.org.

Stepping up when needed most

During the onset of the pandemic, Barry Stark felt very fortunate to have maintained full employment during that time and wanted to find a way to give back to a local organization that has a positive impact on the lives of community members.  He started conducting food drives on behalf of the Bedford Plaza Tenants Corp. Co-Op Apartments on Barker Street. Approximately 150 lbs of food was donated this year.

Barry and his family continue to be great ambassadors for the Pantry. His daughter’s Bat Mitzvah service project included her asking her family and friends who attended the event to make a contribution to the Pantry. She also volunteered at the Pantry,  helping to prepare food for distributions and home deliveries.

Jared’s Food Drive

Our friend, Jared Saiontz is helping us stock our shelves for our guests who suffer from food allergies. As an individual born with 26 life threatening food allergies, he knows that having access to safe foods is the only way to manage food allergies. He also knows that allergy friendly foods cost 200-400% more than their allergan containing counterparts. This fact often leaves food insecure families with a choice between hunger and health. In honor of Food Allergy Awareness Month during the month of May, and in an effort to help meet this need in our community, Jared arranged for an allergy-friendly food drive in the Chappaqua schools for us. He was also recognized by County Executive, George Latimer! If you are interested in purchasing items on Jared’s wish list and have them sent directly to the Pantry, please visit https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/DSLI9OSGFNN?ref_=wl_share

Some Tasty Fundraising!

Eli Lowe, an Armonk resident and rising sophomore at the King School in Stamford, CT, turned passion into purpose and decided to sell his homemade ice cream and donate to the Pantry. Eli loves to cook and especially make ice cream. He calls it a “win-win” because he can do what he loves and raise money for other people at the same time! Eli is a member of sponsoring congregation Bet Torah where he first learned about food insecurity when he packed bags for the Pantry. EJ’s Homemade Ice Cream was an instant success! Since summer 2020, he has sold hundreds of pints of his eleven flavors with the Instagram account: @ejshomemadeicecream and has donated profits to the Pantry. Click on the button below to read about Eli in Westchester Magazine!

Poetry’s Purpose

Horace Greeley students Devisi Goel, Emma Wasserman, Tessa Wheeler have created a very unique fundraiser! Each Saturday, they set up a stand at the Chappaqua Farmers Market. These rising poets will write a special poem for you to send out to your special person!

In return they only ask for a donation to the Pantry! Whether you’re celebrating the birth of a new nephew, wishing your daughter a successful college journey, or simply want to let someone know you care, you can feel great about sending them a customized poem from Poetry’s Purpose!

Doodles For Donations

Our FUN-Fundraiser! Take a Look! Sumer Moudgill is a dedicated doodler. Although he considers quantum mechanics and astrophysics his main interests, this 12th-grader at Horace Greeley High School has been doodling since elementary school—proving it is possible to be an artist and a scientist at the same time.

Watching the news in spring was deeply troubling to Sumer. He wanted to do something to help with the long lines at food pantries and healthcare clinics that developed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. So, he came up with a novel idea: he would create an online crowdfunding campaign to raise funds. In exchange for contributions, he offered merchandise based on his doodles. Sumer’s freeform drawings were available on notecards and a fantastic t-shirt. His fundraiser, Doodles for Donations raised $1,085! Thank you, Sumer.

Delivering Baskets of Love!

Thank you MKES!

Mount Kisco Elementary School 4th graders and their teachers visited the Pantry on September 14. They came to deliver baskets of food harvested from their school garden. Our Director of Operations and Programs Roberta Horowitz (right) gave the class a tour of our distribution room. Thank you MKES for donating your food and showing you care!
