ORGANIZE A FOOD DRIVE
Food drives come in a variety of flavors. You can host a one-day food drive where everyone brings their donations to a specific location on a set day. Or you can set up multiple collection points and accept donations for a few weeks.
You might also want to consider an Online Food Collection:
You, your organization and/or your friends can order food for us using the
Pantry’s Special Amazon Wish List Page.
1. Fill out the Food Drive request form
After you submit the above form, a Pantry team member will be in touch with the most needed food items list for the time your drive will be held, as well as how and when to deliver your collection to the Pantry. If advance notice is given, we will do our very best to provide you with an electronic flyer that you can personalize for your group! Please note, no glass containers and kindly use your own boxes, crates, or bins for the collection and to deliver.
2. Set goals
No donation is too small or too big! 1.2 pounds of food is equivalent to one meal.
Brainstorm and plan. Remember that food is needed year-round, so your food drive can be conducted at any time of year. Select a start date that allows sufficient time to organize the food drive.
3. Create a collection system
Often, the best way to collect donations is to use small to medium-sized boxes that are easy to lift. Consider using boxes that you have available at your house or office and attach a poster to mark the box.
4. Promote your food drive
Promotion is the key to a successful food drive. Make flyers. Tell your friends and family. Post on social media. We’d love to see what you’re doing. Please consider tagging us on Facebook and Instagram. We can supply you with electronic marketing materials and/or logos that you may need.
5. Thank the donors
Thank everyone who participated and share your results! Your generous support allows us to continue our mission of leading the effort to eliminate hunger in our community.
